It appears that the Mozambique Government has announced that all visitors to the country are now eligible for tourist visas at borders equipped with the equipment necessary to issue these biometric visas.

Most border crossings are now issuing biometric visas to visitors, and the remaining few are set to be able to offer them in the near future. The expected Visa cost is around 2000 meticals (about US$ 29 at today's exchange rate) – however, this has yet to be confirmed by government.

Dual-entry visas are now available, which means that visitors to Mozambique can visit surrounding countries during their stay, and still return to Mozambique without needing a additional visa. 

Mozambique can be a great all year round destination - with some 2 500 km of coastline, and two magnificent Archipelagos (Bazaruto and Quirimbas), this is a beach destination of note!

Not surprisingly, though, December is a very popular month for that magical beach getaway in Mozambique - if you live in the Southern Hemisphere is makes a great family holiday destination over the Christmas and New Year Break; if you live in the Northern Hemisphere - well, what can we say - it's going to be a lot hotter than at home!

Mozambique has a good variety of accommodation, great beaches (just in case we haven't mentioned those already), exceptional diving, sumptuous seafood, great people.... and sun, lots of it!

On 1 September an annular solar eclipse (the moon eclipses the sun, but it at its farthest point from the earth, the moon does not cover the entire sun, leaving a 'ring of fire'. will pass over the remote Quirimbas Archipelago in the north of Mozambique. Azura Quilalea Private Island will be in the centre line of the moon's shadow - the perfect place to experience this once in a lifetime event. This won't happen again in the Quirimbas for another 84 years
Also observe the conjugation of Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and the moon between 27 August and 3 September, while Mars and Saturn will also be visible. All 5 planets observable simultaneously
