Some very exciting news from Maputo - The much anticipated inauguration of the Maputo-Catembe bridge is scheduled to be held on the 25th of June (Mozambique's Independence Day). This makes access to the Catembe area, and Maputo Elephant Reserve, and beyond, much quicker, as it replaces a ferry service across the bay. 

The bridge, which will be the largest suspension bridge in Africa , is part of the much larger project that includes a set of access roads including the road between Maputo and areas (and thus lodges) to the south of the city. 

​The Mozambique government has announced a 30-day tourist visa is now available at borders for all visitors.

It has now been gazetted that all tourists entering Mozambique will be able to obtain a tourist visa on arrival.  
•    The visa will be issued at the listed entry points, is valid for 30 days and the holder is entitled to 2 (two) entries;
•    These new visas apply to all bona fida tourists who wish to enter Mozambique regardless of whether or not there is an embassy in their country of origin;
•    The price of visa will be US$50 per person and payable in cash.

This is an incredibly important step in restoring demand and confidence for tourists and travellers to Mozambique.

It appears that the Mozambique Government has announced that all visitors to the country are now eligible for tourist visas at borders equipped with the equipment necessary to issue these biometric visas.

Most border crossings are now issuing biometric visas to visitors, and the remaining few are set to be able to offer them in the near future. The expected Visa cost is around 2000 meticals (about US$ 29 at today's exchange rate) – however, this has yet to be confirmed by government.

Dual-entry visas are now available, which means that visitors to Mozambique can visit surrounding countries during their stay, and still return to Mozambique without needing a additional visa.
