Machangulo Beach Lodge
Machanculo Beach Lodge is set in a truly unique location, on a secluded peninsula conveniently close to the capital, Maputo.
Accommodation is in luxurious rooms, with modern touches and amenities. All rooms are en suite, with air-conditioning, mosquito nets and all boast private decks. The rooms are all connected by wooden walkways and stairs to the main lodge area and to the beach. There are 5 Ocean View Rooms, set on the ridge near the main lodge with excellent views. There are 8 Beach Villa Rooms, only metres from the sand and linked to the central pool deck and lounge/ dining area by pathways. They have partial Ocean views. There are also 2 Family Villas, which have 2 separate en suite bedrooms per villa. These also have a private pool, deck and lounge area, complete with bar and kitchen.

The lodge boasts a full equipped activity and dive centre, a luxury spa and some excellent spots from which to enjoy the view and laze on the beach.
There is a full PADI SCUBA dive centre at Machungulo with all of the necessary equipment and boats. PADI courses are also available. The Marine reserves surrounding the Machangulo Peninsula provides some excellent diving. Off the beaten track diving at its best. With ample options for beginner and advanced divers it is the ideal location for those looking for a unique and unexplored diving experience.
The lodge also offers excellent fishing, and kayaking. In addition there are Stand Up Paddle boards, which can be enjoyed at the lodge or the nearby Mangrove estuaries.
The most popular activity is snorkelling, as the Inhaca Island Marine reserve has 2 km of pristine snorkelling and the Picnic Snorkel on the island is HIGHLY recommended.
Birding is excellent around the lodge, from the Great White Pelicans to the majestic African Fish Eagle, the area provides ample opportunity for keen birders.
Guests can also enjoy the use of a full service Spa which also offers great views!
There are also cultural tours available to Santa Maria and Inhaca Islands. Santa Maria Village provides a great opportunity to experience local living by visiting this small village. Enjoy a scrumptious lunch at the local restaurant, Bemugi’s Place. Nested just behind the mangroves, the village is tiny and has a really authentic, non-tourist feel. Inhaca Island provides a wide array of activities to choose from.
Inhaca is a delightful island is home to only one village, aptly names Inhaca Village where some shops and restaurants can be found. The island has more of a tourist feel to it and has many more people than the Machangulo Area.
The Lodge also offers Dhow excursions and sunset cruises and signature Beach Picnics
